First Time Read: Winter Tide by Ruthanna Emrys
This sounded so fascinating when I heard about it and read a sample, but I confess I'm finding it slow going. The story feels... cold. Which is appropriate, given that it takes place mostly in New England in the winter, and involves people whose natural habitat is cold. But something in the protagonist fails to engage me. It's first in a series, so I'm going to finish this book one way or another, and that way if I decide not to read the sequels, I'll be a bit more sure I'm not missing something I would have loved.

Comfort Reading: Necessary Evils, by Rahirah. Going back through the Barbverse, because having a lonnng series that I already know I enjoy is like a security blanket. :-)

To the Menfolk: Sir MacHinery by Tom McGowen
A favorite from my childhood, this book was rescued by Son from the library book sale. Unthinkable! How could they part with this treasure? Well it's mine now, muh-ha-hah.
An eccentric American scientist is putting the finishing touches on his robot when some brownies mistake the robot for a knight and persuade the robot to help them raise Merlin and save the world.
Illustrated by my very favorite artist, Trina Schart Hyman.
